The Cincinnati RSA had its annual picnic at beautiful Alms Park on July 25th to welcome all of our new members and their families. We had a great turnout, even with the heat! The picnic was catered by Eli’s Barbeque, which is known for its delicious pulled pork. We also collected two full boxes of donations to be packed into “Pookie Bags” at next month’s Community Outreach event on August 26th.
On August 5th we had our annual RSA Welcome Reception catered by Funky's Catering. It was a relaxed setting and a great way to mingle and get to know each other better.
We were so excited to meet new little friends at our July Children's Group activities. On July 10th, we visited Parky's Farm in Winton Woods, where we watched a Barnyard Friends Puppet Show, met actual barnyard animals, and took a ride on the tractor. We were thankful the sun came out so we could really enjoy the farm!
On July 24th, we visited the Cincinnati Zoo, where we saw giraffes, lions, painted dogs, meerkats, flamingos, elephants and more! We rode the train and enjoyed lunch outside.
We hope more new RSA members will join us in August, when we learn about tennis at Kids Day at the Western & Southern Open on Saturday, August 15. There will be on-court drills and off-court activities like face painting, balloon artists and more.
Our Book Club read the book Life After Life by Kate Atkinson and discussed it at Awakenings Coffee and Wine on Hyde Park Square on July 30th. The book was challenging, but sparked a lot of great discussion. We will take a break from reading at next month's book club and will be discussing the podcast Serial on August 19th.
