Throughout the months of July and August, the Cincinnati RSA collected donations and purchased supplies using its Community Outreach fund for the first ever Pookie Bag-making event at a member’s home on August 26th.
“Pookie Bags” are bags filled with books, journals and toiletries to be given to kids entering foster care. This is such a great cause benefiting local kids entering foster care right here in Hamilton and Butler Counties, Ohio.
While we worked, we enjoyed appetizers, drinks, and good conversation. We created an assembly line and were able to fill fifty bags to donate to the Hope in Heels. Hope and Heels picked up our bags two days later and delivered them to Cincinnati Children’s to be distributed the very next week.
Thank you to everyone at the Cincinnati RSA who donated items and to the Pookie Bag-making team who helped put the bags together! We learned a lot about how the process works and look forward to an even bigger and better Pookie Bag-making event next year!
Please mark your calendars for our next Community Outreach event at the Cincinnati Walks for Kids on September 26th. The Cincinnati RSA will be walking to benefit the CHECK Foster Care Clinic at Cincinnati Children's. Please visit our Facebook page for details on how to register for the walk or, donate now!
