The first half of 2016 has flown by and we can hardly believe it! We are looking forward to meeting our new members as you join the "family" in May, June, and July. We hope you will join us over the summer at our Welcome Picnic and Welcome Reception (details TBD).
What have we been up to this year?
Our Dinner Club met at Taste of Belgium in January, Alfio's Buon Cibo in March, and Mt. Adams Bar and Grill in April. Members and their spouses also enjoyed a pizza party/game night in February which benefited one of our charity partners, the CHECK Foster Care Clinic. We will say farewell to some longtime spouses at the May/June Dinner Club, which will be a catered dinner open to all members and their spouses (see events for more info).
Our Children’s Group has done lots of exciting things! In January they headed to the Newport Aquarium, which is a popular event each year. In February our families got to experience a Lollipops Dance Concert given by the Cincinnati Pops at Cincinnati's own Music Hall. The kids enjoyed a dance party with bouncing tunes such as the "Hoe-down" from Copland's Rodeo and music from Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake. Later that month the group enjoyed Story Time at the wonderful Blue Manatee Bookshop in Oakley. In March the kids ventured outside for a play date at Summit Park in Blue Ash and braved the rain at the Easter Spectacular at Parky's Farm in Winton Woods. The group took advantage of the mild weather in April with two more park meetups at the Mariemont Tot Lot and Alms Park before experiencing the Butterfly Show at Krohn Conservatory in early May. Later this month the kids will get a chance to explore Mount Storm Park near Clifton.
The Book Club met in January to discuss The Martian at WG Kitchen and Bar in Rookwood. In February they read Modern Romance and met at Awakenings Coffee and Wine in Hyde Park. March brought a discussion of Little Bee while enjoying sweet and savory pies at O Pie O. The April book was Station Eleven and the group met at Lookout Joe in Mt. Lookout. Our avid readers will meet again at the end of May at Awakenings Coffee and Wine to discuss When Breath Becomes Air, and in June at 1215 Wine Bar & Coffee Lab after reading The Girl on the Train.
Last, 2016 brought the addition of a new RSA group inspired by our January Dinner Club - Brunch Bunch! This group will meet once a month to experience the many delicious brunching opportunities that Cincinnati offers. Members have brunched at The Sleepy Bee in Oakley, The Echo in Hyde Park, and Otto's in Covington and are planning to meet at The French Crust downtown and The Green Dog Cafe in Columbia-Tusculum in May and June.
We hope to see you at our events sometime soon! For details, please visit the Facebook page or sign up for the RSA monthly newsletter.
